PRODUCTION SEMINAR IN MANCHESTER

The summer term is production term in Helen O'Grady classes and this weekend a Training Seminar was hosted, by the management team, in Manchester, to explore the plays and to workshop as many as possible. Proceedings were kicked off by Executive Principal, Alison Mazanec, working on speech, movement and body language to help develop excellent characters. Principals and their teachers became pirates, cowboys, guests at a wedding and knights of the realm among other things, just to interact with each other.

This year, several Principals from around the country were also asked to lead workshops and the assembled gathering were more than happy to join in.

Edinburgh Principal, Glyn Owen, was happy to deliver his lines with lots of attitude!

Bolton Principal, Karen Ryder, had every reason to smile!

As well as participating, Karen Ryder, above, wrote the Upper Primary play "Imagine That!" and was delighted to see the play finally come to life. Cheshire Principal, Brian Ormrod, and Training Supervisor, Susannah Gill also wrote new works for this cycle and they too were pleased with the results.

 

Everyone went home very excited about the coming term. When teachers can have such a great time presenting the plays, it is easy for them then to inspire the children in their classes. It gives children everywhere the opportunity to be part of something positive and successful. Every child is a star and each will have their moments of glory on stage - whilst also having lots of fun!

PRODUCTION SEMINAR - APRIL 2012

At Saturday's Seminar, teachers and Principals put their all into workshopping the curriculum for Production Term. More than 70 people attended the Seminar and all have gone back to their classes very excited about the coming term. We look forward to posting pictures of the shows they prepared in their own classes.

This weekend, at the end of the Easter break, Principals and teachers from around the country will be assembling in London to workshop the exciting curriculum for Term 3. After two terms of our developmental programme, the summer term is the culmination! All classes in the Academy start work on a short, scripted production to be performed for an audience of parents and friends at the end of term.
The Easter Seminar is always huge fun, with adults being children and trainers being teachers. It gives everyone the opportunity to see - and take part in - the plays for next term.

Grasshoppers, tortoises, aliens, Egyptian mummies, Mexican villagers, movie starts all have a part to play in one of ten specially written plays for all age groups - 5 - 18 year olds.

And to prospective actors the message is certainly COME AND JOIN US!

PRODUCTIONS 2012

As the Academy heads towards the Easter break, Principals are preparing for the end of year productions coming up in Term 3.

This is a very exciting time of the year for all students. Terms 1 and 2 offer our popular and unique curriculum, teaching our self development programme. The culmination of these is seen at the end of the school year in the summer shows. No matter how long they have been attending classes, all students can be part of something positive and successful. Every child in the Academy is a star and they all have their moment in the limelight in June and July.

Three exciting plays are on offer for each age group. In Lower Primary (age 5 to 8 years), children could be ants in "The Grasshopper And The Ants" or woodland creatures in "The Hare And The Tortoise". The third possible play for this age group is a Dutch folk tale "Lazy Lak".

Upper Primary (9 to 12 year olds) could be heading down to Mexico in the colourful "Fiesta In Triesta", at the Egyptian Museum in "The Curse Of The Pharaohs" or in lavish fancy dress with some strange aliens in "Fancy That!"





































Teenagers in Youth Theatre classes could find themselves confronting the media at a press conference for the latest film in "The Perfect Scandal". They could be part of the Muscle Mob in "The Legend Of Tim Sandy" or simply waiting for a train in "The Waiting Room".
